Ingredients
- 3/4 cup softened butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 3/4 cup molasses
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnomon
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and molasses.
- In another bowl, stir together the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and mix well. Cover and refrigerate about 4 hours or overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350 F.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8" thickness. Cut with cookie cutters and place on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake until the edges are firm, approximately 10-12 minutes.
- Place on wire cooling racks to cool completely. Decorate as desired.
