40 MinThis is an old family recipe that's been passed down through the years. These bubble buns are a delightful treat, somewhat similar to Timbits but with a softer, more bun-like texture. They're not overly sweet, making them perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a cozy snack. Every bite brings back memories of home!
Ingredients
- First Step
- 1/2 cup luke warm water
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 package yeast
- Second Step
- 1/4 boiling milk
- 2 tbsp shortening
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 cups flour
- Third Step
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon, slightly rounded
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- First Step
- Pour the sugar and yeast into the water and let stand for 10 minutes, then stir.
- Second Step
- While the yeast mixture is sitting, diissolve the shortening in the hot milk, then add the rest of the ingredients for Step 2, and mix together.
- Add in the yeast mixture and mix together.
- Let rise until doubled in size, then punch down and roll into small balls (will make approximately 3 dozen).
- Third Step
- Mix the sugar and cinnamon together (and nuts if desired)
- Dip the balls in the butter and then roll in sugar/cinnamon/nut mixture.
- Arrange in a baking pan, spaced more or less evenly.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes in a 375 degree oven.
